INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS & PERINATAL OCD THERAPY

The thoughts that flash through your mind and make you wonder what kind of person you are.

They come out of nowhere. An image. A fear. A "what if" so disturbing you can't believe your own brain produced it. And then the spiral. What does it mean that I thought that? Does that make me dangerous? What kind of mother has thoughts like this?

The answer is: a lot of them. Intrusive thoughts during pregnancy and postpartum are extremely common. They are not a reflection of your character, your intentions, or your fitness as a mother. They are a feature of anxiety and they are treatable.

The fact that they horrify you is actually evidence that they go against who you are.

YOU MIGHT RECOGNIZE THIS IF...

  • You're having unwanted, disturbing thoughts or images about the baby or yourself that you can't control

  • You've been avoiding certain situations, objects, or activities because of these thoughts

  • You're seeking reassurance constantly but it never really helps

  • You're spending significant mental energy trying to neutralize or suppress these thoughts

  • You haven't told anyone because you're terrified of what they'll think

  • You're exhausted from the mental effort of managing this alone

HOW THERAPY CAN HELP

You don't have to keep managing this alone

Intrusive thoughts and perinatal OCD respond well to treatment. We'll work on understanding why your brain is producing these thoughts, changing your relationship to them, and reducing the mental exhaustion that comes from trying to suppress or neutralize them.

The goal isn't to never have an unwanted thought. The goal is to get to a place where they don't run your life.
